DVCEA simpler way to create video variations.

I developed a tool I named Dynamic Video Content Engine (DVCE) to help the creative production team generate new video versions from After Effects templates, without having to work directly in After Effects.

The tool brings content editing, media, subtitles and preview into a web interface, while keeping the animation and rendering connected to the original motion project.

01 / Where the idea began

Bringing a production idea into a tool.

Working on international campaigns at trivago, I became interested in how we could produce more video variations with less repetitive work.

Dynamic Creative Optimisation in digital advertising was an important reference: a creative structure that can accommodate different content. Advances in AI gave me new ways to explore that approach and develop the tool.

I wanted to keep the creative decisions in the motion template while making the adaptation process easier for the person producing the versions.

02 / How it works

Keep the motion. Change the content.

The motion designer prepares the After Effects template and defines what can be edited.

In DVCE, the person making the adaptation can work with text, media and subtitles, check the preview and prepare the video output. After Effects remains the production engine behind the process.

My work connects these two sides: building adaptable motion projects and designing an editing experience around the tasks people need to complete.

03 / First production use

More than 50 videos produced in series.

The first digital project, Influencers, was tested and approved. One user with no After Effects experience produced more than 50 videos in series, with less manual work creating and editing subtitles.

The workflow starts by importing a raw UGC video. DVCE automatically transcribes the audio, checks the transcript against the original script and corrects spelling errors. It then uses the timecodes to create synchronised subtitles and adds branded graphic elements to the final composition.

The editor can adjust colours and graphic elements as needed.

Seeing someone use the tool to complete a production task was an important step beyond my own development tests.

04 / From digital to TV

Refining the workflow for new productions.

The first digital production provides a practical starting point for refining DVCE and extending it to other production needs.

I’m continuing to develop the editing experience and the handoff between DVCE and After Effects, keeping each adaptation separate from the original master.

The TV templates have also been tested and are ready for the next winter campaign, planned for the end of 2026.
